How exercises matter as a dramaturgical approach in performance art education

This article addresses a university course in performance art at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway. aim this is to discuss how the exercises and dramaturgy matter. author teacher thus diffractive analysis informed by her role as artist-researcher. study uses new material feminist theory agential realism from physicist theorist Karen Barad. investigates become agents get constitutive power. are material-discursive, intra-action entangled with entire teaching environment, they compose dramaturgical structure that allows unpredictable happen. describes three examples highlights aspects matter mediation embodiment, materiality, site. results point toward importance mediating activate student-participants experiment redefine what ever-changing field can be.
